The history of the link between human and animal dates back to the dawn of time. Since prehistory, animals have played a crucial role in the survival and development of human societies.  This alliance allowed both species to thrive, for example with dogs providing valuable assistance in hunting and protection, while man offered food and shelter in return. This mutualistic relationship is considered one of the keys to humanity’s evolutionary success.

Beyond their practical utility, animals have also acquired emotional and symbolic value in the eyes of humans. In many cultures, they are associated with deities or natural forces. Totem animals, considered as spiritual guides or protectors, testify to this deep link between man and animal.  Throughout the years pets have taken on a growing role in households. Dogs, cats, but also birds, fish, and rodents have become full-fledged family members, fulfilling emotional and social needs.

Our relationship with our pets is much more than a simple relationship, it is a genuine emotional bond, comparable to that which exists between family members. Pets are often seen as confidants, sources of unconditional comfort, and daily joy.

Choosing to hold a pet funeral ceremony gives you the time to say goodbye, to respect and honour that companionship.

Isabel can help with a funeral or a memorial at a time and place of your choosing, or just some advice.  Isabel has trained in pet bereavement services, and is a a great animal lover herself, and understands how dearly loved and missed our pets are.

If you’d like to lead a little service yourself, she can also assist you in writing and structuring it, or make suggestions for poems.
